Fritz Albert Tarp (August 2, 1899 - January 9, 1958) was a Danish football (soccer) player, who played 44 games for the Denmark national football team from 1918 to 1934, 26 of these as team captain. He was selected for the Danish team at the 1920 Summer Olympics, but spent the tournament as an unused reserve.
Born in Ringsted,[1] Tarp played as a defender for Copenhagen clubs Hellerup IK and B 93. He was an elegant dribbler and effective tackler, and was one of the greatest personalities of all time in Danish football.[2] At B 93, he played alongside Danish internationals Svend Jensen and Henry Nielsen.[2] He made his national team debut in June 1918,[3] and went on to captain the team in 26 games,[1] a Danish record at the time. He ended his national team career in October 1934,[3] having played 44 games for the national team, another Danish record at the time.[2]
He died at Frederiksberg Hospital on January 9, 1958, having lived in Copenhagen at his time of death.[1]
